The Sound of One Amp Exploding

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

*cough*

So did you notice that nothing has been happening here?  Nothing in an abso-fucking-lutely sweet nada kind of way?  Zilch?

My fault.  All my fault.

Ok, I have some excuses.  I started a new job a few weeks ago.  I’ve been making sure that I post to my tech blog, at One Amp’s expense.  And the raison d’etre for this blog: the amazing distributed Blue Shift recording, has stalled.

At this point, anyone who has written a blog OR played in a band is feeling an overwhelming lack of surprise.

Well, first of all, Klinowski is coming down to NYC tomorrow, so (after several beers) we’ll arrive at some sort of resolution (I’m thinking “closure” is the most likely resolution).

I have a fairly extensive back-catalog of unrecorded material now.  I think I will take that to a new project.  New band, I’m thinking.  I’ve got all this recording gear, but frankly I also want to get into a room with people and rock.  Perhaps it’s possible to have the best of both worlds.

In other news, I think I’m very close to ditching Tracktion in favor of Logic Studio.  Now I used Logic back in school in its pre-Apple days, and I absolutely hated it, but it looks like Apple has cleaned it up considerably.  It was the single-screen interface that originally drew me to Tracktion, but its been acting too flakey for my tastes.  Logic seems to come with so much stuff too - its a great deal at its new price - around $500.

I did just recently pick up Guitar Rig.  It really does sound amazing, however it was starting to crap out repeatedly (as a VST plugin in Tracktion), last night.  Is it Guitar Rig?  Is it Tracktion?  Is it the hardware?  I’m not sure.  I’m going to call up the guys I bought it from for some answers.

That’s all the Random Loren Music News for now.  Hopefully a coherant musical direction to come.
